From digital design to finished product

How is PlugMinder manufactured?

PlugMinder components are manufactured using FDM 3D printing, a process that builds physical parts layer by layer from a digital design.

Each component starts as a 3D model, is prepared for printing using specialist slicer software, and is then printed as an individual part. Once printed, the components are checked and assembled using snap-fit features, screws, or a combination of both to create the finished PlugMinder product.

From digital design to physical component

Every PlugMinder part begins as a digital 3D model. The component is designed using specialist 3D design software, where the shape, dimensions, fixing points, cable openings and assembly features are accurately created.

Once the design is complete, it is prepared for printing using slicer software. The slicer converts the 3D model into machine-readable instructions, guiding the printer on how to build the component layer by layer.

How FDM printing builds each component layer by layer

This simplified illustration shows the principle of FDM 3D printing. Filament is fed into a heated print head, where the material is softened and deposited through a fine nozzle.

The printer lays down the first layer onto the build plate, then gradually adds further layers on top. On cooling, these thin layers bond together to form a solid PlugMinder component ready for checking and assembly.

The manufacturing process

Every PlugMinder component follows a controlled process from digital design through to printing, checking and final assembly.

QUALITY CHECKED BEFORE DISPATCH

Checked, assembled and ready for use

Every PlugMinder part is checked through the manufacturing and assembly process so the finished product is ready for practical everyday use.

Small-batch production

PlugMinder components are produced in controlled small batches, helping maintain consistency across different cover types and depths.

Checked before assembly

Printed parts are inspected for fit, finish and function before being assembled with the required locks, screws and inserts.

Built for practical use

Each finished PlugMinder is checked so the cover, baseplate and locking features work together correctly before dispatch.

Checked by hand

Checked, locked and tested before despatch

Every PlugMinder is assembled and checked before despatch. This includes checking that the cover closes correctly, the locking mechanism engages, and the cover opens normally again with the key.

Locking mechanism demonstration: the cover stays closed when pulled by hand, then unlocks and opens normally with the key.
