How is PlugMinder installed?
PlugMinder is designed to fit around your existing socket by using the socket’s fixing screws.
Watch the installation overview, then follow the step-by-step guide below to see how the baseplate, cover and locking system are fitted.

Before fitting PlugMinder
Simple fitting, sensible safety checks
There are three factors that help make the installation process clearer, safer and easier to follow: how the baseplate fits behind the socket, whether power to the socket should be isolated, and whether the connected plug and cable have enough clearance.
Simple installation
The PlugMinder baseplate is only 1mm thick at the clamping points, so the socket screws normally only need to be loosened by a few turns to slide the baseplate into position. The socket does not need to be fully removed, helping avoid exposure to the wiring behind the socket.
Socket power isolation
Although PlugMinder is designed to be fitted without exposing the electrical wiring, we recommend switching off the relevant socket circuit at the consumer unit or fuse box before installation as an extra safety precaution. If you are unsure, ask a qualified electrician.
Check cable clearance
Before locking the cover, make sure the plug sits comfortably inside the cover and that the cable exits through the correct cable opening without being trapped, twisted or pulled tightly.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
Installation instructions
Installation steps 1–3
Install the baseplate
The first stage is to securely install the baseplate between the socket and the wall before connecting the plug and closing the cover.
Installation steps 4–5
Insert plugs
Plug in the devices you want to protect and hook any device charging cables over the baseplate arms to prevent removal.
Installation steps 6–9
Install, secure and lock cover
Finish the installation by securing the cover to the baseplate and then locking with the supplied locking tool
Final installation check
After installing, check the following...
- ✓ the cover opens and closes smoothly without fouling any plugs
- ✓ the cables exit the bottom outlets cleanly
- ✓ the viewing window fully shows red (locked) or green (unlocked).
If the cover does not close freely, reopen it and check the plug and cable position before locking.
