A small business built around a practical idea
PlugMinder is designed and made by a husband-and-wife business in the UK. What began as a simple solution to a familiar frustration has developed into a growing range of practical socket and plug covers.
Since beginning online sales in 2021, we have remained personally involved in every stage—from developing and refining our designs to checking, assembling and supporting every product we supply.

Where the idea began
From missing charging cables to PlugMinder
The idea behind PlugMinder first came to us around ten years ago, after repeatedly finding that our mobile phone charging cables had disappeared from where we had left them.
Like many parents, we soon discovered that a charger left unattended was likely to be borrowed by one of our children. We began thinking about a simple way to keep the plug and cable securely in place, ready for use when they were needed.
What started as a solution to a small family frustration gradually developed into something much more considered. By 2018, the first version recognisable as today’s PlugMinder had begun to take shape.
As the design developed, it quickly became clear that plugs, chargers and adaptors vary enormously in size and shape. A single cover would never suit every installation, so the product continued to evolve into a flexible range of different sizes, depths and designs.
That early problem remains at the heart of PlugMinder today: creating a practical, reliable way to help keep plugs, cables and connected equipment where they are meant to be.

Designed around real installations
One idea, many different requirements
As PlugMinder developed, it became clear that plugs, chargers and adaptors vary enormously in size, shape and cable position. A single cover could never suit every installation.
This made 3D printing the natural choice. It allows us to produce different widths, depths and cable-exit arrangements, as well as develop specialist and custom covers when a standard option is not suitable.
That flexibility remains an important part of PlugMinder today, helping us create practical products around the way plugs and sockets are actually used.
Designed, made and checked by us
Our products, our designs
We only sell products that we have designed ourselves. Every PlugMinder begins as a digital design and is produced, checked and assembled by us in the UK.
Before despatch, we visually inspect the components and check the hinge movement, closing action and locking mechanism. If something is not up to the standard we expect, it does not leave us.
We also continue to refine our designs whenever we identify a way to make them stronger, easier to use or better suited to the installations in which they are used.
From digital design to finished product, every PlugMinder is our own.

Every PlugMinder is visually inspected, assembled and function-tested before despatch. If something is not up to the standard we expect, it does not leave us.

From a family idea to our own website
PlugMinder has developed gradually over a number of years. What began as an idea for solving a small problem at home has grown into a developing product range sold through Etsy, Amazon and now our own dedicated website.
2016
The original idea
The idea begins after our mobile phone charging cables repeatedly disappear from where we had left them.
2018
PlugMinder takes shape
The first version recognisable as today’s PlugMinder begins to take shape as the original idea develops into a practical product.
2021
Online sales begin
We begin selling our own products online through Etsy and start supplying PlugMinder directly to customers.
Late 2024
PlugMinder reaches Amazon
We expand onto Amazon, helping make the PlugMinder range available to a wider group of customers.
2026
Our own website launches
We create a dedicated home for PlugMinder, with clearer product guidance, custom-cover information and direct customer support.
